Day 2 and 3: Pilanesberg & Jo'burg

Well, I am in sitting in my room in Johannesburg or simply Jo'burg. After two very busy days in Pilanesberg National Park. For people wondering how I am trying to sort out my blogging ... to be honest I write most of the stuff offline in order to be sure that I do not miss anything, but use the empty time (like now waiting for the MBA reception cocktail). I prepare the photos (sorry for being small in the first post, I will try to fix) quickly (so Marc H. this means almost as they came out) and in the night connect to internet.

Now, were was I ... yes Sun City. What a pain to get connected there ... really. Seemed really stepping back in time. Anyway, I stand to what I said. Sun City is kind of boring. Only nice thing was I could lay down on a fake beach and get a nice red color (yes I got a slight tan!!!), walking in the nice golf course and above all playing with little green monkey (they are not green ...). They were there playing among themselves and with people around and easy to catch on photos. Check the photo ... was taken with a Macro 105VR for techies ... for non techies it means the monkey could have grabbed my camera so close she was. Cool!!!

After lunch in Sun City (burger, chips and coke ... light despite the lady tried to convince me to take the regular). We drove back pretty tired. I really wanted to sleep, but when Igor said something like: "It's not even 4pm ... let's go safari!!". Peter and myself could not agree. And it was really really amazing. We met 5 giraffe's really close. We could almost touch them. Lot of zebras. A nice encounter of a rhino which was walking like a little baby trying to find its way among cars to cross the road ... after scaring the guys in front of us with some nice rofling, he passed 2 meters from the front of our little car!!! Gosh it was nice!! The day closed with a fake brai ... nothing worth mentioning further as it was freezing and not so tasty. I left early to avoid smelling like a smoked salmon.

Today ... we drove back to Jo'burg, where soon I get to this reception and then to a place called Moyo for dinner ... and I am hungry since I have only few crackers and two scones since I woke up at 5.30am. Why so early? Safari again!!! This time we drove from almost 5 hours in the park full car (Igor, Peter, Gerko and myself). We saw lots lots of herd of antelopes, zebras, rhinos, hippos. We met a rhino mama with her baby. She was so close that I could hear her chewing her food and my friends whispering ... "Francesco stop making noises with the camera, she is going to charge". She did not, but did got angry when a car passed a good speed near the part of the road where the little one was. And here they went. Check the photo ... you will understand what I mean by close ... and I got a photo much closer than that! what a day ... but can't keep writing (maybe some more after Moyo), just I want to had ... we saw a lioness. Not perfectly ... but she was there with a Lion. Well .. off I go to this cocktail party.

Well, thus moyo place was weird looking. Very fake African. The food ok ... nothing special even if I have to admit I tried to contain myself. Well, good night everybody and till next time!!

Jealous is an understatement. You already saw more animals in three days than we did in Canada in three weeks!
