DMBLGIT may 2009 ... the results!!!

This may edition has surprised me for, on one hand, less submissions than last time I was host, but (even more) for the very high quality submissions that made selecting the winners very difficult. The winners are really outstanding examples of food photos, something worth of publication.
Really good! But also many of the non winners are to be congratulated since competition was fierce.

Alas, there must be winners and before having the winners, we need judges ... for this round we have been lucky to have an interesting jury:

- Sigrid from Cavoletto di Brussels. A belgian living in Italy that has made the step from foodblogger to food photographer. Without doubt one of the favorites of many food lovers out there in the blogosphere.

- Francesca from Fiori di Zucca. Simply outstanding in her photos. Very influencial and another blogger that uses both italian and english ... just like me. Look at her last posts and you will be happy she was a judge not a contestant ;-)

- Jeanne from Cook Sister .... I love South Africa, I love her stories and her food stories .... if you do not know her blog, good moment to check it out.
- Your hosts! Francesco the crazy one in the kitchen with photography as an hobby. Elke the judge that tastes with her eyes and heart! Believe me, our judging could not be more different !!!!

Now the winners .....

Overall Winner: 1st Place

White Russian Panna Cotta by Vera at Baking Obsession

Overall Winner: 2nd Place

Saffron Yogurt Mousse with Rose Petal Honey by Soma at eCurry

Overall Winner: 3rd Place

After Eight chocolates by Monika at Sweet Sensation

Edibility category winners

Mongolian Beef by Lindsay Landis at Love and Olive Oil

Aesthetics category winner

Fried Fish Balls by Vania Samperuru at Our family favorite recipes

Originality category winner

Pizza Drama by Rita at Mochachocolatarita

And ... the host pick, which really attracted us and, to be honest, it almost won one of the other awards as well!

Congratulations to all winners!
Next edition will be hosted by Marija at Palachika. Do not forget to join and also to consider hosting!

Does My Blog Look Good in This? May 2009 Edition (UPDATED)

Does My Blog Look Good In This? - January 2008

UPDATE: BTW if you are interested to hot this event on your blog ... please do!!! Just contact Andrew at Spitton or via me!!!

I have been traveling  most of April. Brazil, with its warm weather and super tasty capirinha! Ireland ... well, with its very wet weather and tasty meat and beer. Finally, Spain ... lovely fish, tapas and especially Churros !!! Now I am finally back home. Luckily with good weather and still some energy for proudly announcing ....

Does My Blog Look Good in This? May 2009 Edition

Well well. I am very proud to host this event once again especially since in April I had no time to cook almost and so I would not be able to join!!! Please do come and join .... or at least visit as the entries are always a great source of ideas. There is no price as for the last (for some reason not completed yet) event I hosted except for the congrats of other food bloggers.
For the May edition, I am also putting together quite a mixed jury of people I love for their recipes and photos which are web-wide known! I will keep the names as a susprise ... for the time being!!!

Now, for the standard event description and rule.

What is DMBLGIT?
The idea behind the event is to give everyone a chance to enjoy some of the best pictures of the month posted on food blogs. There are so many great blogs now and new posts are constantly updated, it’s very easy to miss some great posts and pictures. This event takes us back through the best food photos of the previous month.

The rules & how to participate:

  • One food photograph mat be entered per person
  • The photograph must have been posted on your blog in the course April 2009
  • The photograph must have been taken by you
  • The deadline to submit your entry is May 20 ,2009

The judges will assess the quality of all of your great entries, which will fall under the following categories:

  • Aesthetics: meaning composition, food styling, lighting, focus, etc.
  • Edibility: meaning “Does the photo make us want to dive in and eat the food?”
  • Originality: the photograph that catches our attention and makes us want to say “Wow!”, displaying something we might not have seen before.
  • Overall Winner: the photograph encompasses all of the three previous categories: the best in Aesthetics, Edibility and Originality.

So if you have a food blog with a picture you’re proud of from April, just send it to contact(at)thefoodtraveller(dot)com

Include the following:

  • Your name
  • Your blog URL
  • The URL of the post where the photo first appeared
  • The camera you used (optional)
  • and don’t forget to attach your picture, that should be no more than 500 pixels wide

Last day of submission is May 20, 2009.

I will post the pictures as they come. Please, make sure yours is there, but be warned there could be some delay due to work or other real-life stuff ...
All entries will be available in this gallery here.

Buona Fortuna! Good luck!

Once again a warm thank to Andrew of Spitton for overall event management.

PS: Will I or Elke judge??? Not decided yet ;-)

Apparently somebody liked ....

.... my Belgian Stew with boar, chanterelle and Westvleteren 12!! Or at least its photo!!

It seems it inspired the judges of Does My Blog Looks Good In It (a funny and by now traditional food monthly photo contest event) to tuck in like some british would say. See here the full entry.

What did I win???? The following blog badge at the top of this post and now on the sidebar!

Ciao ciao !!!
